Since 1994 Unitek has been a member of the International Ozone Association (IOA), founded in 1973 with the objective of gathering together professionals interested in different ozone applications from all around the world. We now offer, after 15 years of experience fabricating and commercializing this technology in all South America, a reliable alternative that goes from the technical support for various applications to the repair of the units.


Ozone is one of the most basic elements from nature; it's a powerful oxidizing gas. Its molecular structure is an oxygen molecule, with an additional atom of oxygen. Its great bactericidal power, much superior than chloride, and its quick decomposition back to oxygen, made it perfectly adequate for the food and beverage industry, since no undesirable disinfection byproducts are found on the treated water. It is widely used as a sanitizing agent for pipes and other surfaces on several processes. This last option has been largely applied on the industry since it minimizes the use of sanitizing chemicals and the volume of water to be used.

On the year 1997 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved ozone as an anti-microbiological agent under the denomination of Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) for treatment, storage and processing liquid and gas-phase food.

Our equipments have a single control panel to command both the ozone generator and the control loop with the dissolved ozone sensor. For this reason, the complete system can be monitored from a PC.

It is recommended by EPA norms for its use on standard pre-treatment for industrial and municipal waste water, as a disinfecting agent. It is particularly effective for the treatment of many complex contaminating compounds, such as (original EPA list): Hydrogen Cyanide, Acetic Acid, Propane, Formaldehyde, Liquefied petroleum gas, Butoxythanol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Methyl-Ethyl Ketone, Benzene, n-Butyl Phthalate Camphor, Para-Phenylenediamone, Styrene, Xylene, Acetone, Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerol, Propylene Glycol, Benzyl Alcohol, n-Butyl Acetate, Mythelacrylic Acid, Tricresyl Phosphate, Toluene, Mineral Spirits, Ammonia, Ammonium Persulfate and Non-Ionic Detergents.

Due to the diversity of applications and variety of chemical reactions, pilot testing may be needed to properly dimension the equipment (required dose); for that reason we have mobile units available specifically designed for these cases.
